Happening Project
For this project, I bought six Fujifilm QuickSnap Flash 400 disposable cameras and replaced the original stickers with ones I designed, including my own set of instructions. I gave five cameras to classmates and one to my teacher. They each had one week to take 27 photos, with one simple prompt: focus on the color yellow.
I chose yellow because it’s my least favorite color — I usually don’t even notice it. That became the point. I wanted to see what would happen if people were asked to pay attention to something they’d normally ignore. The disposable format made the process feel more intentional — with only 27 shots, every photo had to count.
After that, I curated the photos into a little photo book with four photos on each spread. When I displayed this project, I printed out the photos of the cameras and put them on the wall. I also displayed each of the cameras along with the photo book.
This was part of a larger exploration into how design can guide people’s attention and how small constraints can completely shift the way we see the world around us.
